Fast Fashion has become a big trend among the people of today. Fast to produce also means fast to end up in the landfils. Fast fashion waste has had a detrimental impact on the enviornment.Each year more than 2 billion pounds of clothes end up in landfiles. If this trend continues, the number of fast fashion waste is expected to sky rocket to 29 billion per year by 2030 , that is *ONLY 5 years from now.The number of times an item is worn has declined by 36% (approximately) in the past 15 years. Think about how many times you wear an item once before tucking it away in the back of your closet, throwing it away, or donating it. As of now the average item is worn only 7 to 10 times before being toss.Why? Mico Trends: Short-lived trends that rise and fall quickly on social media driven and fuelled by non other then fast fashion and consumers who feel the need to stay up with the latest trends.You're eating a burger and ketchup drips down onto your shirt leaving a permanent stain on your shirt. How likely are you to throw out that shirt? Most would say most likely.You buy a shirt that is trending, after a while that shirt's popularity has a died down and a new shirt has just started trending. How likely are you to not wear the once-trending shirt and buy the current-trending shirt? Most would say most likely.The average US consumer throws away 81.5 pounds of clothes every year. Excluding other countries, America alone has an estimated 24 billion pounds ending up in landfills on a yearly basis.If no action is taken to reduce fast fashion waste - the industry's global emissions is projected to DOUBLE by 2030 and as global emissions continue to increase at a dangerously high rate.
